The modern day rodeo that we know today has emerged from the daily chores and tasks performed by the low paid workers that worked on ranches. These ranch workers became well versed with the ways the animals lived. Their activities on the ranch while dealing with the animals gave birth to rodeo and this further evolved into a full fledged professional sport.

Modern day rodeo contests are basically divided into two:

1. Those events that are timed: the events like the roping events; steer wrestling, and barrel racing of the cowgirls are the events that are timed to measure speed.
2. Those events that are scored: the events like saddle bronc riding, bareback riding and bull riding are some of the events that are scored by a judge.

There are different events under the professional rodeo but the events mentioned above form the standard of all events. Originally coming from the American soil, the rodeos have found a huge fan following in various other countries like Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Canada and Australia having the same culture of ranches and farming. However, each territory has developed the events in their own style. What ever the event, rodeo is not only interesting to play but also highly exciting and thrilling to watch.
